Three Television Shows that I Would Change or Give a Spin-Off To.

Updated: Jul 8, 2019

Television is a staple of the modern entertainment industry, but as it is starting to dwindle with the rise of streaming services, that does not mean that shows on television are bad. Grant it, I don't watch television that much anymore, when I do it's The Golden Girl, Simpsons, or Starz period dramas on the Tudors. But with the ending of Game of Thrones with the controversial season 8, I started thinking what are the shows I would change or give a spin off to. So these are the three shows I would change or give a spin off to. These do have spoilers, so if you have not seen these shows yet, I would not recommend reading further.

  1. Game of Thrones (Change Jofffrey's death and Ending). I hated Joffrey just like the rest of the fans, but what I hated more was how he went out. Now, I have not read the rest of the books yet, but I am pretty sure the way he dies in the books is the same way in the television show. I don't think his death justified his actions. I wanted him to be tortured like Theon. I'm not sure how I would have done this, but I do know that I would not have had him choke to death. Unlike most of the fans, I actually liked the way GOT ended its decade long show. Was it done well? No. Was it paced fantastically? No. But Bran being king isn't as bad as it may seem. What I would change though, is Daenerys's descent into madness. I would have started the descent a little after she finds out Jorah betrayed her, and then it goes deeper when Ser Barriston gets killed, and as more people around her die including her children dragons, it wouldn't have seemed too out of left field when she burns King's Landing down. Also, before she does burn King's Landing down, she goes to kill Cersei, only to find Arya did it first which results in her killing the whole population which includes Jamie as a way to make herself feel better about not being able to kill Cersei herself.

  2. The Tudors (Spin Off). I love the 2007-2010 Starz show 'The Tudors' starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers as Henry VIII. I love this show so much that I wish Starz continued the story of the Tudor History with a show showcasing his daughter Mary, played by Sarah Bolger and her fight to keep her catholic faith against her brother Edward's rule allowing the Protestant faith. If this was a show I was writing, Edward's death would have probably been the end of season 1, Jane Grey's execution would have been the start of season 2, and Mary's rule would have continued until the end of season three where Elizabeth would be crowned Queen at the end of the series finale. Of course, I would have loved a spin off of that with Elizabeth. With the mini-series of the Plantagenets and York all the way to Katherine of Aragon, I hope a Mary Tudor show and an Elizabeth show isn't too far behind.

  3. Reign (Change parts of the series to the point of probably a reboot). I love Reign even though it often has weak points. Actually, its weak points make me frustrated because if it was thought through thoroughly then Reign would have been the greatest show on the CW beside Supergirl. If I could have rewritten the show, then the plot-line about the pagans would had been reduced to two episodes instead of four (If memory serves right then it was four) and Mary wouldn't have been dragged into it at all. Lola would have ended up with Bash instead of Kenna which would have made the cheating arc with Francis and Lola non-existent, Greer would have stayed the same and Kenna would have probably moved back to Scotland after Henry died as Mary wouldn't have let her back in as one of her ladies. Mary and Francis would have less fights and arguments. The semi-controversial season four which was rushed due to cancellation during the making of the season, would have been stretched into one last long season. Season four would have expanded the court of Scotland and furthered the plot lines in french court including finding what happened to Leith after the explosion, and what happened to Bash after he left Scotland. A longer and less rushed season four would have really made a large spectacle of the war between Mary and Elizabeth leading to Mary's execution.

This is my list of the three television shows that I would have changed or loved a spin off for. Even though I would have loved these changes or spin offs, I still love the shows I mentioned and I hope that this article was enjoyed.
